Rudus Tabootus is the third of four parts for the fifth episode of ChalkZone. It aired on May 3, 2002.
Synopsis[]
Rudy competes in a chariot race against a cheating opponent.
Plot[]
Rudy and his parents visit a coliseum, and Rudy is excited. However, his parents are more interested in the food (Joe prosciutto, and Millie zucchini). Rudy decides to venture into the coliseum on his own. As he walks in, Rudy sees ancient chalk drawings. Having brought his Magic Chalk along, he opens a portal to ChalkZone and enters it.
Rudy sees that it's a chalk version of ancient Rome, and soon sees a lion trying to maul a man as many spectators watch. Rudy hides behind a vase, which the man jumps into it. As the man runs away, the lion starts targeting Rudy as Snap watches from the crowd. Rudy uses his chalk to prevent the lion from attacking him. The lion continues running after him, with Snap also running towards Rudy in the stands. Snap gives Rudy some advice, claiming it's like a lion tamer at the circus.
This gives Rudy an idea: to draw a whip. He uses it to scare the lion, which succeeds as the lion stands on a small chair. An adviser in the stands doesn't find Rudy's feat impressive. Rudy believes all of these chalk drawings are thousands of years old. The king views Rudy as having great courage, and offers that Rudy sit next to him for the upcoming chariot race. The adviser protests the king's decision, with the king replying he has been here for 2,000 years too long.
Rudy states he would rather be in a chariot race than watch one, with the adviser laughing at the thought. The king, on the other hand, views it as a splendid idea. The adviser tries to convince the king otherwise with the stone scriptures, but Rudy uses his chalk to write a new one allowing him to compete. The king states if Rudy wins, he will become the king's adviser. The adviser notes no one has ever defeated him and believes ever will.
Snap encourages Rudy to add an engine to his chariot, but Rudy refuses, wanting to win it fairly. Soon after, the chariot begins. The race starts off neck-and-neck, but the adviser cheats by using a pocketknife to sabotage Rudy, causing the latter's wheel to break apart. Even the spectators notice the adviser had used his dirty tactic. Snap tries to hang on for dear life and pleads that Rudy draw something. Rudy redraws his wheel, as he and the adviser are about to crash into each other. However, the adviser jumps into the sky.
However, this leaves the horses he was whipping in charge, with Rudy following after him. It looks as if the adviser will win, but he farts into the horses' faces, causing them to run the other direction and giving Rudy the win. A celebration is held for Rudy, but he's ready to return to the real world, as he has conquered his dream of winning a chariot race. Snap covers for him as he exits the ChalkZone portal. He sees his parents have gotten a large quantity of food, with his parents worried where he was. Rudy replies he won a chariot race, to the laughter of Joe and Millie.
