"Amazin' River" is the second ChalkZone Oh Yeah! Cartoons short, aired on September 24, 1998. It was later seen as a flashback in the regular series episode "French Fry Falls."
Synopsis[]
Rudy's bored during class, so he decides to enter ChalkZone, where Snap shows him the "Amazin' River."
Plot[]
Rudy's classmates are bored with a slide presentation about the Amazon River; even Mr. Wilter yawns as he clicks for the next slide to show. Rudy, meanwhile, is drawing Snap on his paper, which states "Hey Rudy: howz about you & me take a trip down the Amazin River." With the other kids and Wilter doing their own things or sleeping to pass the time, Rudy takes his White Lightnin' chalk from his baseball card tin, entering the world of ChalkZone.
Rudy falls into an ocean, with Snap helping him up. Rudy asks if this is the Amazin' River, with Snap replying it is and that a third grader drew it on the chalkboard that very morning. However, it isn't connected to other rivers drawn from kids around the world, and Snap instructs Rudy to use his chalk to connect the four rivers, with Rudy obliging.
Rudy and Snap then venture throughout the river, while a song plays about the Amazin' River. They avoid gingerbread men and a snake attacking them all the while. Eventually, Rudy realizes he's out of chalk, but Snap reassures him that the Magic Chalk Mine isn't far away.
After entering the mine, Rudy and Snap gaze at all the magic chalk. Suddenly, a one-eyed creature in a kilt approaches the two, grabbing Rudy with his hand, telling him he can't take the chalk. When Snap asks who he thinks he is, the one-eyed creature introduces himself as Cyclops, the guardian of the mine. He states that he also goes by Cy.
Rudy and Snap laugh at him as Cy explains that the chalk in the mine brought in those from Earth regularly, followed by Cy chasing Rudy and Snap until he trips over a rock. Cy, using his eye like a TV, shows how kids would create reckless and destructive "Zoners". Cy reveals he himself was made by a Scottish boy, himself wearing a kilt. He is angry at his creator for giving him only one eye and having him wear a kilt ("silly outfit," as Cy says), and thus he began guarding the mine to prevent irresponsible creators from using the chalk.
As Cy tries to stop Rudy, the latter creates various diversions (such as a cannon and roaring lion) to distract Cy. Snap helps his friend out by lifting up Cy's eye lid, temporarily blinding him. He holds on as Cy bumps into the magic chalk hanging in the mine. This allows Rudy to use rope, trapping Cy as he dangles over the cave. Lastly, Rudy draws another eye on Cy, quipping he would look better with two eyes. He assures Snap will cut Cy down once Rudy returns home.
Rudy and Snap exit the mine, with the former realizing he needs to return to class due to it approaching evening. Snap tells Rudy to draw a shortcut on the map, which he does. The Amazin' River song plays again as the two return to Rudy's class.
